MSAD #33 participates in the National School Lunch Program at both Dr. Levesque Elementary School and Wisdom Middle/High School, but only Dr. Levesque School participates in the School Breakfast Program. We provide free and reduced price meals to eligible children at both schools. We offer healthy meals to address children's health and nutritional needs. The school lunch menus adhere to guidelines from the State of Maine School Nutrition Program. At the elementary level, we serve lunches with no more than an average of 664 calories and 30% fat over a five-day period. That means that if we have a lunch with 750 calories one day, we must balance that with less than 664 calories on other days that week to arrive at an average of 664.
At the high school, we serve lunches with no more than an average of 825 calories and 30% fat over a five-day period.
The State and our local Wellness Team recommend nutritious foods with fewer calories and sugar. We try to balance all of this to serve meals that meet State guidelines, are nutritious, look appetizing, and taste good.
