Financial Aid
Most students are eligible
for one type or another of financial aid
to help cover the cost of post-secondary
schooling.
Different types can be
need based or merit based.
Grants
and scholarships are typically “gifts” that
do not need to be repaid.
Loans do need to be repaid
once the student graduates or leaves schools.
In order to be eligible
for most forms of federal or institutional
financial aid students must fill out the
FAFSA (Free Application Federal Student
Aid) form.

There
are billions of dollars available every
year for students. Like I tell the students, “the
only scholarship you are guaranteed not
to receive is the one you don't apply
for.”
The
Guidance Office produces a monthly newsletter
called Scholarship Sitings (please set
up a link – Do you
want me to email these to you as they are
published?) . These are scholarship applications
that have been mailed directly to the Guidance
Office.
Local Scholarships (available
only to Wisdom students) are available
in March. See the Guidance Office for the
list. (We could probably do another link
here?)
A quick online search will
provide many websites for scholarships.
DON'T GET SCAMMED . . .DO NOT PAY FOR A
SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH. Most sites will provide
free searches.
