French Dictionary Lesson Plan

GRADES: 1 and 2

OBJECTIVES: To familiarize students with the contents of a French dictionary.

Using a French picture dictionary, students will choose a French word, write it down,  write the page on which they found it,  and what they think it means in English.

MATERIALS:

French dictionary

handout

ACTIVITIES AND PROCEDURES:

1. Working cooperatively, students will use their handout to do the dictionary activities.

2.First, they'll choose a French word and write it down.

3. Next, they write down the page the word is on.

4. Then they'll copy the sentence in the dictionary that explains their word.

5. As a group they'll decide and write what they think the word means in English.
