Transitional Certificate
The transitional certificate is a one-year renewable certificate given to certified personnel who
are working to obtain a new endorsement. The transitional plan is
usually made up of course work designated by the Department of
Education. A mentor will be assigned to the transitional candidate.
Upon completion of a pre-approved teacher action plan and success in
compiling archival evidence of performance meeting Maine's teaching
standards, the professional candidate will be recommended for
professional certification.
