Outside Contractors

In general, outside contractors are responsible for their own lockout/tagout procedures.  However, school personnel must work closely with outside contractors to understand their procedures for LOTO so that school employees and the contractors themselves do not get injured on the project.

Supervisors, both school and outside contractors, must ensure that affected employees understand contractor’s and school's restrictions and prohibitions.

Supervisors also must coordinate lockouts when both contractor and district employees must both work on or near equipment.
