Hazards From Mower Discharge

Many newer model mowers have optional equipment which catches cut material, but it can be taken off or disabled in most cases.  Some older equipment does not even have grass catching equipment.  Flying objects coming from a mower discharge are dangerous to the operators, nearby people, and nearby items such as cars, buildings, and pets.  There are a couple of guidelines that operators must be aware of and control flying objects from the mower discharge including:

Operators need to understand the real danger of objects being discharged by a powerful mower and follow all guidelines and precautions necessary to prevent injury to themselves, other people, and property.
